Fizzy Blood – Pawn [Single Review]

Fizzy Blood - PawnSo, I get sent a lot of music these days, and over the last few months I have written about a lot of releases. The majority of what I’ve listened to has been fantastic, but not a whole lot have felt like something that I would go back to after reviewing. Fizzy Blood, however, have created something that really does keep drawing me back in for another spin.

Despite being a catchy little one, Pawn deals out some glorious noise for lovers of distortion and feedback, and the layers of audio posses a lot to be enjoyed in continuous bursts. The track itself opens with incredible fuzz, before kicking into full swing. The lead guitar and vocals carry the addictive melodies, although the main bulk of the song does the deed in about a minute and a half, with the remainder being an epic breakdown.

One thing that Pawn is certainly not short of is energy, containing characteristics of old (good) Pulled Apart By Horses, albeit more in your face and straight to the point. The chorus is surprisingly infectious, yet somehow doesn’t feel like the strongest aspect of the song. Needless to say, Pawn has something to suit the needs of every listener.

I wish I had more to say about this one, but not a lot needs to be said. Whoever you are, wherever you are: obtain the song, listen until numb.

Rating: 9.0/10
