Barque – Pyre Builders [EP Review]
Do you like your music loud, crusty and faster than an epileptic seizure? Then you’ll need a dose of Barque in your life.

It’s no secret that to make it as a band, you need to be wiling to adapt to whatever is popular in the mainstream. Even new independent bands seem to be adopting this revival of the classic quiet/loud formula that dominated the 90s. Although most of these bands have a solid live sound, they don’t translate it to the studio with any passion or energy. Queasy on the other hand are proving to be standing far out from the crowd and doing things their own way.
I’ve been so caught up by the amazing experimental, industrial and explosive music coming in recently, I almost forgot what it was like to hear some solid punk rock coming into my inbox. And here we are…
Society Of Losers are a record label with some hot shit on their hands right now, and new to their roster Sweet Deals On Surgery are yet another UK band to piss yourself with excitement over.
There’s not really much to give this introduction, other than the fact the name drew me in, followed by the album art. Also I have a fucking mental rabbit running around me and climbing my legs right now. Cute guy.
You remember in the 90s when a herd of pop punk bands influenced by the likes of The Descendents were starting to gain traction and were pretty good, but then rapidly turned to dog shite alongside the mainstream success? Von Stache are like that peak in the genre, and with their third release, still not showing any signs of becoming said mainstream dog shite. Who said punk was dead?
I’d say a good third of bands that I cover are compared to the likes of Nirvana or The Melvins within their little PR seller. Although most do somewhat earn the comparison, none quite to the deserved extent as Forever In Debt do.
This week I have been getting my metal fix from Beskar. I’ve mentioned numerous times about not being a huge fan of metal, so it takes something special, or at least different, to get a handful of compliments from me.
I have no idea if Scottish Metal is a legit thing, but if so then apparently this is it. So let’s keep up our shit hot rep that we currently have going with Scotland and check this out.
Any regular readers (I know there aren’t any, but I can dream…) may recall there was a spat of Doom/Drone/Sludge/Stoner Rock bands that I was covering last Summer. Safe to say, they got a bit stale after a while, but when Slutty Clowns popped up in my inbox, I was all over that shit.
