You remember in the 90s when a herd of pop punk bands influenced by the likes of The Descendents were starting to gain traction and were pretty good, but then rapidly turned to dog shite alongside the mainstream success? Von Stache are like that peak in the genre, and with their third release, still not showing any signs of becoming said mainstream dog shite. Who said punk was dead?
Anyone who pays the vaguest of attention to this site will know that we have very recently reviewed a single from these fellows, and if you actually read that then you may remember that I was intrigued as to how the full album ended up sounding. If all of this is news to you, check out Distract Me and come back to us (partly because it isn’t on the album and also because I’m probably going to refer to that review way too much because I haven’t slept and my mental capacity is focussed on keeping me awake right now).
I would have never put Fat Mike and Dinosaur Jr together, but that’s the kind of thing Von Stache sent my head running to with their latest EP, Quiet, Brain.
